Community Outreach
Our chapter engages in needle-craft projects that will benefit members of our community.
Hearts for Hospice
Join Joyce in making mittens and hats to give to outreach organizations.
Other suggested projects are Beanies or Nursery Bonnets for new-borns; Infant Booties and/or Layettes, and Prayer or Comfort Shawls for the elderly. Items may be either knitted or crocheted.
If you like to make layette items, select a pattern of your choice from the many available in knitting departments at our local shops. Shawl Ministry has instructions for shawls.
Beanies may be donated to any hospital; shawls to a nursing home of your choice. Layette items can be donated to agencies such as the Pregnancy Resource Center.
If you prefer to embroider, we have lovely patterns to give to new homeowners through the Habitat for Humanity program. Contact the Habitat in your community.

Amadeus & Friends by Connie Ann Root has been made available by David Root for use by Corning EGA to promote Connie’s love and dedication to the art of embroidery. Timeless, below is an excerpt from Corning Needle News, February 2009.
“April brings the return of a canvas piece called Amadeus & Friends that Connie Root designed and first taught in 1994 using the Jean Hilton stitches that were so popular at that time. Connie combined these stitches and others with a wide variety of thread textures and some open canvas to create a piece with a great deal of visual interest. The piece is stitched on mono canvas using Watercolours, #5 pearl cotton, Patina, Rachel and Kreinik #8 braid.”
The Amadeus & Friends pattern is available as a pdf for $15 or hardcopy for $21. Requests can be made by completing this order form.
