Welcome!

The Embroiderers' Guild of America, Inc. (EGA) exists to foster the highest standards of excellence in the craft and art of embroidery. This is achieved through an active program of education and study.

Our goal is to help needleworkers of all levels of ability to learn, practice and perfect their art. Monthly programs recognize that the word embroidery is virtually limitless and are actual lessons on various types of stitching. Informal sew-ins provide another opportunity to follow up with the instructor or experienced members for additional help with a project, or simply to stitch and socialize.

Our affiliation with the national organization consisting of 800 chapters allows us to tap into rich resources of education. Besides lively articles on needlework, the quarterly publication, Needle Arts, features embroidery patterns and instructions, as does our own quarterly Chapter newsletter. EGA offers Group or Individual Correspondence Courses giving members further opportunity to expand their embroidery experiences.

Corning Stitchers exhibit it's members' work biannually at the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport, New York. Over 300 examples of our craft are on display for two months, thus sharing our accomplishments with area visitors and residents. Overnight trips and day trips are scheduled periodically to museums or estates where we can observe the history of embroidery, plus visits to some of the best stitchery shops in the area.

Important Dues News

National will be implementing over the next year and a half an annual dues collection process. Every member will have their dues prorated so that by the end of May 2010 dues will be paid by the treasurer only once annually to National. Currently, the treasurer turns in dues quarterly. We are excited about this and have chosen to make our collection process annual too because we feel it will be easier for everyone involved . . . treasurer and members.

In the meantime, however, everyone will be paying a different dues amount each quarter until we are all caught up with the annual collection date of May 31st, 2010. It will look like this:

1st quarter or March 31, 2009 renewals - $53.75 (one year $43 + one quarter $10.75)
2nd quarter or June 30, 2009 renewals - $43.00 (one year)
3rd quarter or September 30, 2009 renewals - $32.25 (three-quarters of one year)
4th quarter or December 31, 2009 renewals - $21.50 (one-half of one year)

Life members will look like this:

1st quarter or March 31, 2009 renewals - $13.75
2nd quarter or June 30, 2009 renewals - $11.00
3rd quarter or September 30, 2009 renewals - $8.25
4th quarter or December 31, 2009 renewals - $5.50

Plural members will look like this:

1st quarter or March 31, 2009 renewals - $11.25
2nd quarter or June 30, 2009 renewals - $9.00
3rd quarter or September 30, 2009 renewals - $6.75
4th quarter or December 31, 2009 renewals - $4.50

We will continue to publish, in our newsletter, who owes dues for the quarter and how much. Please contact our treasurer if you have any questions.
